Le musee du/The Louvre

Three years before making the Da Vinci Code, i was lucky enough to be able to visit the Louvre privately on Tuesdays, when the museum is closed, and at night. i used to stroll down the corridors with a curator. i have a very special, privileged relationship with this museum. when it's deserted, there' an extraordinarily magic atmosphere, and the rooms are sublime, especially those with the paintings by ingres and de la tour.

Le Loir dans la Theiere

The atmosphere in this tearoom is like the one you find in a jean-pierre jeunet film, the armchairs don't match, you just sink into the leather sofas. it's a place full of charm. the pastries are delicious, especially the crumbles and lemon meringue pies piled ten centimetres high...Having brunch here on a sunday morning is a real pleasure.

Le jardin des Tuileries/Gardens

A stone's throw from the jeu de paume museum and the louvre, these are the only parisian gardens with an orangery. the presence of so many trees makes me feel safe. i can wander about for hours here...the public is always a mix of parisians and people from the provinces, the atmosphere is at once popular, family-oriented and concicial. i can just fade into anonymity...
